The Witcher Season 3: Goodbye Cavill, Hello Hemsworth & Hello…Jaskier (Again?!)
The wait has been more painful than a ghoul’s bite, and more nerve-wracking than playing Gwent with a Nilfgaardian, but at last, the third season of The Witcher is upon us! And if the latest trailer is anything to go by, it looks set to be more packed with beasts, magic, and gratuitous decapitation scenes than a Novigradian brothel is with drunk, off-key bards. But hey, we’re not complaining! And when will season 3 of the Witcher come out?
Now, let’s get to the elephant in the Kaer Morhen – this is Henry Cavill’s last season as Geralt. Yes, ladies, gentlemen, and whatever Jaskier identifies as we’re about to witness the Superman’s last silver-haired hurrah before Liam ‘Thor’s Brother’ Hemsworth picks up the witcher’s mantle in Season 4. There’s a cross-universe joke here somewhere, but I’m too sad about Cavill’s departure to find it.
The Witcher’s Last Stand: Cavill’s Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri Face the Wild Hunt
In this farewell season, Cavill’s Geralt finally teams up with his will-they-won’t-they sorceress sidekick Yennefer and surrogate daughter Ciri. It took only two seasons of monster-hunting, politicking, and continent-traversing to assemble this super-band. And guess what? It seems everyone wants a piece of them. So, popcorns at the ready!
And speaking of ‘wants a piece’, we also seem to have a sneak peek of the Wild Hunt in the trailer. They’re like the worst party crashers in the multiverse, only they don’t bring cheap wine, they bring death, despair, and ghastly horses. Good luck with that one, Geralt.
Oh, and let’s not forget – Jaskier is back! Why? How? Nobody knows. Perhaps he’s there to break up the monster mauling and magic flinging with his much-needed musical merriment. Or maybe he’s there just to annoy Geralt. It’s really anyone’s guess.
The Witcher: Cavill’s Curtain Call’ – Brace for a Two-Part Season Finale
The Witcher Season 3, or as I like to call it, ‘The Witcher: Cavill’s Curtain Call’, is coming in two volumes – like the weightiest tome from Oxenfurt Academy’s library. The first drops on 29 June, with the second following on 27 July. So, sharpen your silver swords and toss your coins to Netflix, because it’s about to get real bloody, real magical, and real musical.
Oh, and Hemsworth – you’ve got some big leather boots to fill, mate. Good luck, and don’t screw it up. Or I swear, by the gods, we’ll send a Fiend after you.
